Delicious, freshly harvested mushrooms
Yesterday, when I was in Morgan Hill doing errands, I drove to the mushroom farm and picked up a pound of mushrooms. Instead of buying my usual one pound of whites, I splurged and purchased a pound of portobellos. They cost twice as much but are humongous. And, I recently realized that I am getting a pound rather than 8 ounces as I would in the grocery store. I do believe that's a good deal.
Their size amazes me. I haven't decided exactly what I am going to do with them. I plan to either make grilled sandwiches, a raw food recipe for stuffed portobello mushrooms, or a potato-mushroom casserole.
I love going to the Royal Oaks Mushroom farm to get my mushrooms. As you can see, it's just a little hole in the wall. And that's just what you walk up to to order...pay for...and receive them.
He was gone for awhile after I ordered. Maybe he was picking them...
